What's Important When Choosing Craft Fairs

By Rick Amorey

So you've finally made it; you have collected an impressive array of your own crafts, and you are ready to go and meet the critics head-on. You want to see how your talent will fare, and you want to show them off at the next craft show. The only problem that you have is; which craft show would that be, exactly?

The first thing you do is to check out the fliers. Before you go out and start hunting for bulletin boards, though, why not check out what you can find online first? Fliers these days are no longer made with dead trees, they are instead made of bytes in .pdf or .html formats. Look for these using your Internet search engines.

Look for a more comprehensive list online, to make your life easier. It won't even be too hard to find a site that catalogs all the events around your area, or even for the entire country. It will then be only a matter of choosing the right one for you. How is this done?

One, we have think in terms of practicality. While gas prices have gone down, it's still not the best idea to waste it on long unnecessary travels. Look for an event that is close to home. This way, you don't have to haul your stuff too far, and you don't have to wake up early if the event you're going to is just an hour away.

You also have to consider the quality of the show, besides the distance of the venue. Look for past coverage or reviews about the show. Chances are, it's already an established event. If you can find someone who has first-hand experience with it (i.e. has had a booth setup there), then that's better. If you don't hear positive reviews about it, then it's probably best to avoid the show for the present. - 2388
